About the Service
The service will be a traditional Catholic Ordinariate Mass, a fully Catholic Mass celebrated in a reverent style that preserves elements of traditional Anglican liturgy as per Myrtle’s wishes. Although Myrtle originally grew up in a Seventh-day Adventist Boarding School in Hong Kong, when she first came to Australia, she attended the Chinese Presbyterian Church in Surry Hills, and later a local chinese church in Rockdale. Bishop Anthony Randazzo has kindly given permission for Myrtle to receive a full Catholic funeral. Because she was baptised and devoted to Jesus, she will be honoured with the fullness of the Church’s prayers.
Participation in the Mass
All are welcome to participate during Holy Communion or remain seated. Catholics may choose to receive the Eucharist. Both non-Catholics and Catholics are warmly invited to come forward for a blessing instead (by crossing arms over the chest as a sign they wish to be blessed rather than receive the Eucharist).
